Welcome to Acton Academy Timisoara
Acton Academy Timișoara is a 21st-century, American private school where learners take ownership of their education through technology-enabled, learner-driven learning, Socratic discussions, hands-on projects, and real-world apprenticeships—all within a diverse, purposefully designed community that builds character, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.
With 250+ worldwide campuses, our Learner-Driven community believes every child is a Hero who deserves to find a calling that will change the world.
Acton Academy Timișoara is recognized by the Ministry of Education in Romania as an educational institution accredited in the United States and is registered by ARACIP in the Special Register of private schools whose educational activities correspond to an educational system from another country.
The Studios
Education Levels at Acton
Elementary Studio
Ages 6-11 | Grades 0-5
Launched in September 2022
The Elementary Studio is designed for learners who are building the foundations for independent learning. Here, they gain essential academic skills while gradually learning how to work on their own with confidence, focus, and responsibility.
Through hands-on projects and engaging Quests, they explore the world in meaningful ways. They may dive into subjects such as gardening, architecture, marine science, entomology, developing curiosity through discovery, observation, and real-world application.
As they grow, learners are coached by the Guide to develop healthy ways of dealing with conflict, strengthen their relationships, and practice servant leadership skills. They learn how to contribute to their community, support others, and take responsibility for their choices.
This Studio helps learners build strong habits, character, and independence—preparing them for the next stages of their journey.
Middle School Studio
Ages 12-14 | Grades 6-8
Launched in January 2026
The Middle School Studio is designed for learners ages 12–14 (grades 6–8) who have already shown they can work independently.
Here, they take on challenging real-world problems, deepen their writing and critical thinking, and begin exploring the world beyond the classroom through apprenticeships—job-shadowing experiences that help them connect their learning to future paths.
They also learn through hands-on Quests, including science-based experiences such as Chemistry & Cooking Quest or Physics Quest, where they create the electrical plan for a miniuature neighbourhood. These projects make learning practical, creative, and meaningful.
At the same time, learners continue to collaborate, strengthen their character, and build lasting friendships with studio-mates who challenge and support them through peer review.
This Studio helps learners gain a deeper understanding of themselves as they discover their talents, develop resilience, and begin to see who they are and where they are headed.
High School Studio
AGES 15-18 | Grades 9-12
Launching in the future
The High School Studio is designed for learners who want to shape a high school experience that truly fits their goals, strengths, and aspirations.
Together with the Guide, each learner creates a personalized learning path aligned with their desired future—whether that means preparing for a specific university, exploring a career direction, or building practical life skills. This individualized approach helps them stay focused, motivated, and intentional in their journey.
Alongside their academic work, learners take part in apprenticeships, gaining real-world experience through part-time and hands-on exposure to different professional environments. These experiences help them explore their interests, build confidence, and better understand the paths available to them.
As they move toward graduation, learners can prepare for the SAT and other next steps needed for college admission, if that is the path they choose. Whether they go on to university, a gap year, entrepreneurship, nonprofit work, or the workforce, they are supported in discovering and pursuing a path with purpose.
Our Approach
Methods of Learning
Learn to learn
Children work at their own pace to achieve mastery in the core skills of reading, writing, and math. They take the time they need to master a topic before moving on to the next, more advanced level.
Learn to DO
Children don’t just read about physics and complete Physics problems on paper. Instead, they build electric circuits, boats and bridges. They learn by doing in fields like Biology, Programming, Chemistry, Entrepreneurship , etc.
Learn to Be
Children engage in Socratic discussions that encourage deep thinking, taking ownership of their learning by setting learning goals and participating in the governance of the class, practicing key character traits.
